Youth service opens its doors in Merredin – Local News – News – General – Merredin Wheatbelt Mercury.
A YOUTH service called the Avon Youth Family and Community Services has opened an office in Merredin.
The official opening was celebrated on Saturday, May 28, with a day of fun for youth at the Merredin Skate Park.
The event included face painting, a skate competition with iPod prizes given away and a sausage sizzle prepared by volunteers from St John Ambulance.
It also featured a live music concert featuring two bands – original Perth pop-rock band Beside Lights and the very popular Damien Cripps band, which played well-known popular covers well into the night.
Beside Lights was popular with the Merredin youth who queued for photographs and autographs at the end of the show.
A dance competition was held during the evening, with the winner receiving a signed Beside Lights album.
